This episode, which taught us a LOT about Sidney, should really have been called Hostage. We open with him in the not so distant pre-possession past as an arcade-owning bachelor who for some reason held a small boy prisoner in his garage. Cut to the present where Chief Giles arrests him for assaulting Reverend Anderson. Meanwhile, Patricia’s son admits he painted the pentagram on the town statue. Megan and Mark have another fight.

The Reverend berates Chief Giles for arresting Sidney and claims they’re falling into his trap, but Giles reasons he’ll lock up as many people as he can to stop this demonic infestation. Kyle visits his mother in the hospital with Amber and explains the same thing that happened to Allison happened to his mom. “It wasn’t your fault,” he tells her. Amber suggests it might be better if Allison fell into a coma too. After spotting strange flowers on his mother’s nightstand Kyle discovers Sidney’s been there to visit. Kyle tells Megan Allison’s missing and needs her to watch Amber for the day. Meanwhile, Reverend Anderson picks up Ogden’s wife when her car breaks down.

Kyle interrogates Sidney in prison about visiting his mother and Sidney said he wanted to see the woman who put up such a fight. Kyle lunges at him, causing his veins to pop like the other afflicted ones. “You take this out of me, and you will leave behind a monster,” Sidney warns, possibly referring to his kidnapper host. After Kyle releases him Sidney partially explains his situation. “You land where you land…you just have to make the best of it” Sidney explains. He goes to clarify it only happens to people around Kyle because he’s like a match in a dark forest that his kind are attracted to. He also suggests he should have learned to live with his possessed mother instead of beating her.

We get a better view of Sidney’s host the moment he became possessed. He discovers the horror in his garage. The Reverend kidnaps Ogden’s wife, forces her inside Kyle’s house, and interrogates her about her possession (all while Aaron watches). Aaron stops by the police station to tell Chief Giles the Reverend cut the pentagram into his own chest and how he kidnapped Ogden’s wife. Kyle returns to his house/Reverend Anderson’s hostage situation.

Ogden meets up with Chief Giles and admits to him his wife’s possessed, along with half a dozen other people in town. He explains the trailer in the woods was used to help them ride out their difficult moments. Back at Kyle’s house Reverend Anderson forces Kyle on Ogden’s wife but nothing happens. Kyle tries leaving with her but the Rev sucker punches him outside. They get in a fight just in time for Chief Giles and Ogden to show up. Giles tries calming him down but the Reverend drives off.

Meanwhile, Mark tells Megan he sold his truck so she could get her wedding ring back (after selling it to pay for Donnie’s blackmail money). Elsewhere, Chief Giles released Sidney from prison but warns him he “Will cross the line to protect (my friends).” That night Reverend Anderson learns the church council wants him out of town. Sidney returns home to find Aaron in his house, who confesses he’s the one who lied to Giles to get him out. Kyle enjoys a meal that night with his daughter and Megan’s family for the first time in a WHILE. And yes, we also get closure about Sidney’s kidnapped child. Once he became possessed he broke into the garage and set him free, making us wonder how evil he really is. Things seem to be going a little TOO well for Kyle…

This was such a cool episode, Sydneys backstory is really messed up! Some of the answers we got in the show made the answers we got in the comic this week more clear! Can not believe there are only 2 episodes left this season… It would be some cool to see Megan being possessed in the season finale! Or at the end of next weeks episode!
