Skybound Entertainment today announced it has named Fred D. Lee as Vice President of the company’s film and television division. Reporting to Rick Jacobs, Managing Partner, Linear Content, Lee will focus on expanding and guiding Skybound’s feature slate both in the US and international markets. In addition to close collaboration with creators, producers, and top leadership, Lee will help drive the team’s creative vision as it seeks to further establish itself as the premier home for elevated, commercial genre fare.

Additional high-profile projects Lee will manage include Hardcore at Universal with Adam Wingard directing; Stealth at Universal with Lee Daniels directing; and Oblivion Song at New Republic Pictures with Jake Gyllenhaal attached to produce and star. Skybound also recently wrapped production for horror-comedy movie Renfield, releasing next spring with Universal and starring Nicolas Cage, Nicholas Hoult, and Awkwafina.

Prior to Skybound, Lee worked for Nickelodeon/Awesomeness, producing live-action features for Paramount+. He most recently produced Honor Society, directed by Oran Zegman and starring Angourie Rice, Gaten Matarazzo, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse; it premiered as the number one film on Paramount+ upon its release. He also produced The J Team, the feature debut of star and entrepreneur Jojo Siwa, who was included on Time’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2020. He previously oversaw English-language development for CJ ENM, the South Korean conglomerate and studio behind the Academy Award-winning Parasite. His work there includes the Drake Doremus film Endings, Beginnings, which premiered at TIFF and stars Shailene Woodley, Jamie Dornan, and Sebastian Stan, in addition to development projects with Ari Aster, Jason Kim, Amy Aniobi, Phyllis Nagy, and Sascha Penn. He is a member of the Producers Guild of America and a graduate of UC Berkeley and USC Law.
