Living in a culture where everything comes instantaneously makes it difficult to wait months for anything. Such is the case with The Walking Dead Season 6 cliffhanger. BUT fear not! Norman Reedus is here to quell your worries and give you hope. He recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly Radio (Channel 105 on Sirius XM) to discuss the finale, reaction, and Season 7. Below are excerpts from the interview; catch more over at EW!
The Cliffhanger
“I don’t like spoilers, to be honest, I don’t want people to tell me the ending to the movie when we sit down in a movie theater. I don’t like them, so I don’t do them. I like the enthusiasm behind everyone wanting to know, but it’s a good feeling to have that enthusiasm, so let’s hold onto it.”
The Fan Reaction
“They’re still talking about it. I’ve been making art for a long time and you want people to talk. Sometimes you make something just to get people to talk. The fact that people are still talking is a huge compliment to how that episode was executed and the acting in it and the writing of it. That’s a good thing. Talk sometimes its good. I know we all have phones and everything is instant gratification now. I get it. I like that too. I like the controversy, to be honest. For that many people to be that invested in that show and freaking out, I think it’s great.”
Season 7
“Trust me. I think probably the planet is going to explode. That’s my feeling. It’s so good. Every time we go on a promotional tour talking about what’s going to come, we all say ‘Oh my God, it’s amazing. I can’t wait for you to see it.’ But it continually surprises me how this show grows and is put together and the execution of it – no pun intended. It blows my mind. It just continually reaches a new plateau every single time, and this is the highest plateau we’ve ever been. So just wait. It’s worth the wait, trust me.”

I know TWD IS ALWAYS WORTH THE WAIT! I’m having my usual TWD Premiere PARTY at my House! Yeah BABY! Unless they giving away tickets again in Madison square garden! 🙂 🙂 🙂
If it’s “worth the wait” it likely would have been worth just showing us months ago.

You have to a contractual obligation, a gun to your head, or legitimate naivety to say something like this that is SO far disconnected from the reality of WHY people are talking and what the critical reaction was. People talking isn’t always a good thing if you bother to examine the contents of what they’re saying.
I don’t even know why I’m rambling, though. We’ve had season after season of actors saying shit like “THIS episode right here will blow your mind! THAT season finale was the most amazing! etc. etc.” only to end up with something that usually just results in a “meh, guess that happened” reaction. I don’t put any stock in Reedus’ reaction to anything.
If you reread what Norman Reedus says and then listen to yourself then you’ll get what he’s saying.
Oh, you mean how talking is supposed to be good because of how much talk there is?? Because it was so BRILLIANTLY EXECUTED that it must be good because talking = good? You know, in times of French revolutions, there was a lot of talk about the ruling families. I think from the perspective of the ruling class, that lot of talk wasn’t “good.” Extreme example, I know, but talking isn’t always good. Reedus is doing NOTHING more than failing to try and make what is obviously a bad thing a “good” thing and trying to build up hype like every cast member does for every single episode. Fuck that. He’s not “saying” anything to “get.” It’s the same empty bullshit we should be used to.
Ear tickling? Denial? Stupidity? Maybe a touch of all 3?
I don’t even care who died anymore. And the more that these AMC nuthuggers keep coming out to try to rationalize the decision to do the shithanger just end up making me mad again. I foresee many more disgusting cliffhangers in the future, because hey, the most important thing in the new social media world is to get “likes” and #hashtags trending.

As far as I’m concerned, he killed Dwight for causing the whole situation. He didn’t kill anyone or say fuck.
Imagine if issue 100 ended like that
Dear TWD employees: Stop trying to convince us that the cliffhanger was good. Just stop.
Writing and executing a good story is art. Shithanger is a ratings/likes gimmick even if there is s good story behind it. Don’t confuse the two.
Well they have nothing to lose. Regardless of what people are saying, they will be watching. WE are the WATCHING DEAD.
