Jesus rose while Father Gabriel (and the other characters who weren’t in the episode) dropped in our latest character Power Rankings. Check out the updated list below.
1. Rick
Episode 2 Rick somehow already looks like Episode 16 Rick. After surviving close calls in the office building an exhausted-looking Rick now finds himself staring down the barrel of Morales’ gun. Despite this, Rick is resilient and will find a way out of this. It doesn’t matter which past character holds a gun to his head, Rick still remains the most powerful character in The Walking Dead.
2. Ezekiel (+1)
With Maggie out of the episode we moved Ezekiel up for leading his people through a walker horde and into the woods towards an outpost. Sure, his Leroy Jenkins-style approach of attacking when the enemy’s ready for them seems foolish, but we admire his confidence. Plus, Shiva.
3. Maggie (-1)
Although Maggie wasn’t in this episode some of her soldiers were – and they were mostly effective. Look forward to her making more strides in the upcoming episodes.
4. Negan
Negan, who was also left out of these storylines, is still surrounded by walkers in a trailer with Father Gabriel. For that, he’s staying at the four spot.
5. Daryl (+1)
With a gut full of guilt over Glenn, Daryl seems more ready than ever to kill Saviors and take names. Hopefully he’ll find Rick in time to save him.
6. Carol (+1)
Carol has never been on board with Ezekiel’s ‘King’ facade and it was fun to see her challenge him on it again in this episode. Hopefully she can help steer him in the right direction before he gets them all killed.
7. Michonne (-2)
We’re moving Michonne down just because she’s in Alexandria holding down the fort while the others raid outposts.
8. Dwight
As the literal two-faced soldier of Rick AND Negan’s armies, Dwight holds a lot of power. So we’re keeping him at the 8 spot.
9. Jesus (+1)
Damn it, Jesus. Why’d you have to go all Season 6 Morgan on us? Whether you agree with his decision to save the Saviors or not, Jesus DOES have the power to force the Saviors to surrender. And with Maggie on his side, Jesus is one powerful dude.
10. Jerry (+5)
If it wasn’t for Jerry, Ezekiel would probably be dead. As the hand of the King, Jerry holds a ton of power by keeping Ezekiel (and The Kingdom) safe. Plus, who would mess with someone with a giant axe?
11. Morgan (+1)
If you predicted Morgan using his CLEAR powers “for good” wouldn’t end well, you were right! Sure, he brutally killed dozens of bad guys like Rambo, but it’s CLEAR that Morgan isn’t in the right state of mind.
12. Tara (+1)
Tara especially shined this episode and we would love to see more of her kicking doors down and pee pants-shaming Saviors. Her instincts were right – this Savior was full of BS and Jesus was wrong to trust him. Although she was overruled in deciding the Savior’s fate, Tara showed she can be a valuable member of Rick’s army.
13. Simon (-4)
Currently, Simon is still trapped in the Sanctuary surrounded by walkers. With Negan even more trapped outside – does that leave Simon in charge? We can’t say, but until we see anything from him we’re dropping him down.
14. Aaron (NEW)
We’re adding Aaron in because of how much of an impact he’s already playing in this war. He took down several Saviors and is currently trying to help his boyfriend Eric. Unfortunately if the comics have anything to say about it, that might be a lost cause.
15. Carl (-5)
We have yet to see Carl join in the fight against Negan, so until that happens we’re dropping him down on our list.
16. Father Gabriel (-2)
Father Gabriel is still stuck with Negan in a trailer surrounded by the undead. Although he has a gun, it’s hard to believe he would pull the trigger.
17. Eugene (-1)
Eugene already let us know in the premiere he’s having second thoughts about his loyalty to The Saviors, so for that (and the fact he’s trapped) we’re bumping him down a spot.
18. Enid (-1)
Enid wasn’t in this episode so we’re dropping her down a bit. Don’t worry, she’ll play into All Out War soon enough.
19. Jadis
Although we have yet to see Jadis and her ragtag group of trash people this season, we CAN confirm we haven’t seen the last of her.
20. Gregory
Last time we saw Gregory he was bamboozling Father Gabriel and riding off into the distance. The former leader of The Hilltop currently has zero power over anything.
