Sure, you know everything about the current cast members of The Walking Dead, from Norman Reedus’s bad dream last night to Steven Yuen’s favorite snack, but do you know what they were up to before The Walking Dead…?
Check out the first part of our list of what TWD cast was doing before the show, starting with Andrew Lincoln, Melissa McBride, Scott Wilson, Emily Kinney and IronE Singleton!
Melissa McBride
Before taking on the role of Carol in The Walking Dead in 2010, McBride had several parts TV in the early 1990s. She appeared in shows like Matlock, In the Heat of the Night, and, pictured below, the role of Walker Young in the show The Profiler (1996). She was obviously very trendy with pearls, big hoop earrings and all!
Although, before McBride had Daryl in her life, she did have another long-haired gentlemen love interest in 2003. She played a love interest to one of the most iconic television characters, Dawson of Dawson’s Creek (2003).
We certainly hope Dawson isn’t the last long-haired man McBride gets to kiss on camera, and no, we aren’t talking about Eugene (Josh McDermitt)…
Scott Wilson
Scott Wilson has been in show business for over forty years. His first role was in the popular show In the Heat of the Night, which he then followed up with an acclaimed performance in the movie In Cold Blood. In recent years, Wilson has been playing the moral compass in The Walking Dead show, but this wasn’t his first time playing a moral figure.
In the movie Dead Man Walking, Wilson played prison Chaplin Farley. Gaining some attention from his role in the academy award nominated movie, he took a different turn in roles, notably, in the family movie Shiloh.
In Shiloh, Wilson plays an animal-abusing hunter who owns Shiloh and takes the dog from a little boy after it runs away. Quite the opposite of the friendly veterinarian who showed compassion daily, even to The Governor.
Andrew Lincoln
Andrew Lincoln’s career began on British television in a variety of roles, but it’s his cinematic roles as love interests that have really caught the attention of fans. His role as Mark in 2003’s Love Actually was his first step toward wider recognition, and also led to many amusing TWD/Romantic Comedy mashups.
In addition, he’s had roles in a few other romantic films, including Eduring Love alongside Ewan McGregor and Encounters of a Sexual Nature (pictured below):
Hopefully he’ll get a chance to channel some of these past roles in the upcoming season… (Richonne?)
Emily Kinney
Emily Kinney has been acting for about seven years and has been in numerous television shows. She made appearances in several shows and movies ranging from Law and Order: Criminal Intent to It’s Complicated. In 2011, she had her first big role in the show The Big C.
In the show, her character, Emily, sleeps with the main character’s son, Adam, after his girlfriend rejects his sexual advances. If you think that’s a strange role for an actress who is the closest thing to innocence in a zombie-infested world, her role in The Following will seem even stranger.
Her character, Hailey, joins a murderous cult and is forced to find and kill a stranger in a public area. A far cry from Beth on The Walking Dead!
IronE Singleton
Although T-Dog was one of the nobler characters on The Walking Dead, in previous roles, he wasn’t such a nice guy.
A year before we met T-Dog, we met Alton, the neighborhood gangster who terrorizes the main character from The Blind Side. He ridicules the protagonist for leaving “the neighborhood” and starts a fight with some incendiary phrases…
And in the movie Seeking Justice, Singleton plays an assassin trying to kill Nicholas Cage! It only goes to show IronE Singleton can be more than just a helpful friend, he can play a ruthless thug! Nice!
Surprised by any of the roles these cast members have played in the past? Let us know in the comments below!
IRONE SINGLESECENE PER EPISODE
Jeffrey DeMunn (Dale…long gone but not forgotten) = The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Mist, Phenomenon (excellent movie with Travolta & Kyra Sedgwick!), Storm of the Century, The Hitcher (80’s), to name a few.
Not really surprised by any of the roles because they’re all such great performers….the shocker, when I first saw it, was Melissa McBride with hair & makeup!
My wife had me watch “Love Actually” .
What’d you do to deserve that punishment?
Not going to lie I actually liked it .
I haven’t seen it, actually, so I’m just messin’ with ya. I see it’s got Liam in it, so it has to be good.
#thuglife
It’s one of the better RomComs out there. Your wife has good taste.
Right on I will tell her you said so .
You forget Melissa Mcbride in the movie, the mist,
I hope Irone singleton catches a huge break into movies he has such a great story to tell he is very inspirational.
You forgot Irone Singleton- Saturdays in 1998- Between the hedges at Sanford Stadium in Athens GA. That’s right he played in college football’s premier league. The SEC, for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Roll Tide!!!!!
Dale, Andrea and Carol were all in the movie The Mist
I’m going to have to watch this movie ” The Mist ” .
It has the best ending ever!
Oooo! Can I tell ya what happens, Jason? Pleeez?!
INCREDIBLE ending…depressing as Hell, but incredible lol
The ending is the biggest mindfu*k ever! Loved it though!!
Great ending, but that was a total crap movie. That’s no offense to the cast, lol.
I can’t believe you… mist… it.
Lol good one 😀
so is carlos
I think that dude from Season 1 (Morales?) was in the Mist too. And I heard that the lead actor from Mist was supposed to play Rick but had to decline due to a scheduling conflict.
I always read that there was a 4th but could never confirm who it was.
Thomas Jane? That would be cool.
Yes Thomas Jane from the HBO series “Hung”, that show was pretty funny. Speaking of TJ in the beginning of the movie, the scene is set in his studio where he’s finishing a painting of a Tall Stranger wearing a serape with his head down so you can’t see his eye’s as the shadow of his Stetson hat covers his face. In the background is a tall black tower with hundreds of red roses planted all around the building, and at the strangers boot heel is 1 single red rose. Well there’s a storm brewing so his wife tells him to come with her and their son down to the seller ’till the storm blows itself out, well after the storm they find a large tree has fallen onto the studio and broke a window letting in all that wind and rain which destroys the painting, that’s as far as I go with this set-up of “The Mist”, but, I will say if your current on your Stephen King books you will figure out the reference.
I love Andrew Lincoln but think TJ looks more like Rick from the book.
yeah, morales was in the mist along with shane in a cmeo spot along with 2 extras from woodbury
That movie was so amazing…Stephen King is amazing…lol without him that movie wouldn’t even BE.
Read his books?
Yes, nearly every one of them, my first experience with SK”s books was The Talisman with co-author Peter Straub, 1st film Carrie. Stephen King is by far the ultimate story teller EVER!
The Talisman & Black House are two of my favorite King novels. I collect the hardcovers, trying to get 1st Editions. My first King book was Pet Sematary many years ago….been hooked ever since!
Oops, I forgot about “The Shining” actually was my 1’st SK book, after that I was hooked! Since then I have triad to read everything King. My personal library started with the paperbacks, but now I have been able to add the hardcover novels (all of the “Dark Tower” series) to my collection, only I still keep my worn out tattered paperbacks to reread over and over again, I haven’t bought any of his newer work in awhile though, since I found out I was losing the vision in my right eye so It makes reading a chore. Funny thing is I can read on the laptop fairly well, weird…
I just bought The Wind Through the Keyhole, Dr. Sleep & Mr. Mercedes. Revival is on preorder for release in Oct. I started reading The Wind Through the Keyhole, which is a little spin on the Dark Tower series, but it hasn’t been easy for me to get into, so it’s a slow read. My favorite is It.
Sorry to hear about your vision. There’s just something about those big paper books, but I have read a few freebies through Amazon. Digital is a great option & cheaper.
I always have to be reading something. I don’t feel right if I don’t have a book to read.
I have heard about a program for the blind that will provide books on tape or rather cd’s and they also provide the player but you have to have a written report from your eye Dr. stating that there is nothing further can be done I e; glasses, surgery etc. I do wear glasses and have had 4 surgeries that helped for about 5 yrs. I could try surgery again but I just can’t go through that nightmare again esp. knowing that is only a temporary fix. Have you seen the movie “It” there are several movies based on K’s novel’s that are pretty darn creepy like Cujo, It, Thinner, The Stand, Misery, Dolores Clayborn, Salem’s Lot, Carrie the one with Sissy Spaciek not those stupid remakes and of course The Shinning and the Mist. I heard that someone is making a movie based on Litcy’s Story, not sure about that one. I also heard there’s going to be a movie based on “The Dark Tower” . I hope they cast Thomas Jane as Roland, I think he would be perfect for that role. I kind of wish someone would make a movie from “The Talisman” that would be so fantastic!
BTW, that movie is directed by a certain Frank Darabont… coincidence? I think not.
Andrea was also in fantastic four, she’s the bitch that dump the thing when he’s transformed
.
Frank Darabont has directed several of SK’s books made into film, I ‘m not really certain but, I think he directed the tv series “The Dome” also, have you seen it? Pretty good show, I guess it didn’t catch on with the public though, I haven’t heard if it will be renewed for a second season.
.
Under the Dome Season 2 premieres June 30.
thnx Bastet! This is the first I’ve heard about it, now I have something else to look forward to this summer besides TB.
Something else you may wanna check out is Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain. I consider it zombie with a vampire twist to it (or vice versa). The trilogy novels were great! Season 1 premieres 7-13.
Man, I love Guillermo dell Toro his movie “Pan’s Labarinth” is one of my all time favorites, the little girl that plays the main role is just amazing!
I don’t think del Toro gets the credit he deserves. He planned The Strain to be a show before he wrote the books but couldn’t find financial backing. He started writing the books, & the first one turned out so good that he started getting offers for film production, so I expect this to be off the chain!
Couldn’t agree more, btw I;ve circled the date’s for TD & TS on my calendar & set up a reminder on the old Lptp can’t wait to swics also TB’s season finale’s soon to begin, it’s just a crying shame the writer’s etc. pounded that show into a huge puddle of bloody, gooey, slimy, vampire sludge, it started out as a pretty decent vampire out of the coffin (yeah I know it’s been said @ a hundred times, but I just couldn’t help it, I had to, at least once) so to speak, until Mr.Ball & others strayed so far from the books it lost a lot of the quirkiest aspects of the books. At least with SK and delT, Darabont etc. stay pretty much to the books, and the actors stay pretty close to their role as in GOT & so forth.
I started on TB but after the second season, it lost me. Vampires… yes, werewolves… OK, witches….well, now we’re going too far out in the left field. Then Stackhouse with this religious about-face….na. It just didn’t hold me.
I haven’t seen The Vikings. I like to start right at the beginning and I missed it. Maybe one day, I’ll get caught up, but right now, I’m trying to get caught up on/done with Breaking Bad. Yeah, I know I’m late, but I usually don’t keep up with TV series. TWD changed that. Having younger kids in the house & being burned out after work make things challenging, too. I’ll probably be asking for a hoard of DVDs for Christmas, lol!
I’m cool with that, having grown up in yet another dysfuckthional southern fried family, I found books & films to take much of the angst out of my life……..BB is also one fricken badass serious quality show, Bryan Cranston was the bomb in that role, & the kid he takes under his wing was the match, all of the actors were spot on fantastic. This also is on my list (Breaking Bad), I thought of going on Amazon, but I found I could get them at Wal-Mart faster & a lot cheaper. As far as TB goes, the writers went way out in left field, and created larger roles for ppl that were only footnotes in the books, which muddled the series so bad the main actors lost their shizz-eel, & never recovered…….I can still hear that giant toilet flush, tsk, tsk, tsk.
And Morales.
R.I.P T DOGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
AWWWWWW why they got to kill him off…
At least he had a heroic death!!
Scott Wilson also played Catherine Willows’ father on CSI as a mobster lol
So much for the moral compass 🙂
Andrew Lincoln is LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awww T Dog was gonna kill Nicholas Cage!
FINALLY!
Big fan of The Following, so it was cool to see Emily on there.
Yeah, that was surprising
Andy was also in the British movie, The AfterLife. I still have yet to watch it, but we own it.
Andrew lincoln, was in a show called teacher’s over here in the uk, I used to watch it, basically they all hated being teachers and slacked off more than the kids. I seam to remember that andrews character gave up teaching to travel the US, guess he ended up in Atlanta 🙂
HELLO BITCHES!!! I’M BAAaaaaK! Just kidding, if you do not recognize my Nom de Plumme, I am everyone’s most hated commenter, nice to meet you, don’t chu guess my name? I kinda like being the hated one, at least I know someone’s reading my words and has possibly half a brain, and then just when you think it’s ok to get back in the water, “BAMA JAMA” the blixxter’s back, cussin’ , spittin’, & full-o-piss n’ vinegar………oh well back at the ol laptop, I’ve read that some of you haven’t watched “The Mist” staring Thomas Jane from the HBO series “Hung” with Jeffrey DeMunne & Melissa McBride in smaller roles, I think the chick that plays Andrea is in it also. If you haven’t seen it yet, your missing a really good flick with by far one of the weirdest but awesome SK movie endings ever!!! Oh and Jeff DeMunne’s been in a few SK movies, so if your a die hard SK fan you may want to look up some of his books made into films, he tends to like to use the same actors in his different movies kind of like Tim Burton or the Coen brothers. TTFN
LIzzy how could you forget Maggie….Lauren Cohan was Bela Talbot in Supernatural
Bob was in the waterboy
Oh yeah!! I remember it instantly now that u say it
So funny to see him as the kicker
I watched the movie “In Cold Blood” years ago staring Scott Wilson and accused murderer Robert Blake, and I never realized it was Scott. It’s an ok film but the recent re-made movie starring Toby Jones as Truman Capote, author of the book of the same name was a much better film. Toby Jones also appears in the movie “The Mist”, I’ve seen TJ in many supporting roles and I have always thought he was and is a very talented actor that hasn’t received enough recognition for his talent.
I Loved IronE in the Blind side, even if his character was a bad guy. MMB is perfectly beautiful as always. and OMG Andy looks so young in that movie!
Laurie Holden was also on the X-Flies 🙂
Scott Wilson also had a cameo as the lead chemist in the brief opening scene to The Host/Gwoemul (he tells his assistant to dump all the chemicals because the bottles are dusty, which sets the plot of the film in motion), which was one of director Bong Joon-ho’s cult hits before his most recent, Snowpiercer.
I’ve seen the “Host” a couple of times, it’s kinda weird, kinda funny, and very sad, I know it was a “monster” movie but I wasn’t really scared. All in all it was just a good movie.
andrew lincoln was known before love actually. Cult film human traffic as well as MASSIVE UK tv show teachers
